CAMC Teays Valley Wound Care Center uses a multidisciplinary team of experts who work together to heal chronic wounds, while educating patients in preventing wound reoccurrence.

Types of Wounds Treated:

  • Diabetic wounds
  • Vascular wounds including arterial and venous
  • Pressure related ulcers
  • Compromised skin flaps or grafts
  • Chronic Osteomyelitis
  • Non-healing surgical wounds
  • Chronic non-healing wounds

  • Application of bio engineered skin equivalents
  • Surgical debridement
  • Compression therapy
  • Advanced wound care products
  • Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy/HBO:

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy involves breathing pure oxygen in a pressurized chamber to enhance oxygenated blood that helps fight infections and promote healing.

  • Preparation and preservation of compromised skin grafts (not for primary management of wounds)
  • Chronic refractory osteomyelitis, unresponsive to conventional medical and surgical management
  • Osteoradionecrosis as an adjunct to conventional treatment
  • Soft Tissue radionecrosis as an adjunct to conventional treatment
  • Actinomycrosis only as an adjunct conventional therapy when the disease process is refractory to antibiotics and surgical treatment
  • Diabetic wounds of the lower extremities in patients who meet the following criteria:
    - Patient has Type I or Type II diabetes and who has a lower extremity wound that is due to diabetes
    - Patient has a wound classified as Wagner grade III or higher
    - Patient has failed an adequate course of wound therapy for 30 days

CAMC Teays Valley Hospital accepts hyperbaric (HBO) referrals through the wound clinic. All patients will be scheduled for an evaluation, chest X-ray and labs to ensure medical necessity and insurance authorization can be obtained.
