The Family Resource Center offers a wide variety of classes for those on the journey of parenthood. Whether you’re a first time parent or want to prepare your child for the birth of a sibling, we provide the knowledge and expertise to meet your expanding family’s needs.

Classes include: 

Great expectations – Comprehensive four week series childbirth preparation class that includes information on signs of pre-term labor, stages of labor, breathing techniques, comfort measures, pain control options, medical interventions, postpartum care, hospital tour and introduction to breastfeeding. This class includes a virtual hospital tour of the maternity care areas at CAMC Women and Children’s Hospital. You’ll view a Labor & Delivery room, as well as a Mother/Baby post-delivery rooms, and the newborn nursery.

Breastfeeding – Help your baby have the best start in life by breastfeeding. Come and learn how breastfeeding works, how to latch the baby on, breastfeeding positions, when to feed the baby, breast care and breastfeeding lifestyle.  Class includes learning to pump and store breastmilk. 

Friends & Family CPR – Infant and child CPR is different than CPR on an adult. You will be taught American Heart Association's basic lifesaving techniques. No written test, just lots of practice! 

Gestational Diabetes – If you’ve been diagnosed with gestational diabetes or elevated blood sugar in pregnancy, you are not alone. Nearly one in 14 women will develop this condition during pregnancy. This class will help you learn how to manage your condition. Learn more about proper nutrition, how to track and control your blood sugar and other ways to safely manage your condition.

Can’t make it to an in-person class? We’ll bring the class to you. 

The eClass includes eight chapters covering pregnancy, labor, birth stories, comfort techniques, medical procedures, Cesarean, newborn and postpartum. The class takes about 4-6 hours to complete.

Cost: $80.00

The eClass takes about 2.5 hours to complete and covers the important basics that parents need to know to care for an infant in the first few months of life. Learn how to diaper, bath, dress and calm a newborn in this interactive course.

Cost: $45.00 

This interactive online course covers the essentials, including clear animation and plenty of video examples. It lets you know when to call for help and includes partner tips throughout. You will also have the opportunity to track feedings with an easy-to-use tracker!  Allow 2-3 hours to complete.

This interactive online course will give you comprehensive information about how to keep your children safe from Day 1. In this class, you will learn how to protect your little ones through instructive video clips, infographics, stories, and interactive games. You’ll also learn which accidents and injuries are most common, what you can do to prevent them, and how to be prepared in the case of an emergency. The eClass takes 2-3 hours to complete.

This innovative online course teaches parents how to support their child in becoming a big brother or sister, answer tough questions and reduce jealousy. Plus, to encourage the sibling-to-be, there are fun lessons to do together, complete with kid-friendly video clips, coloring pages and activities. The course includes videos for parents, interactive exercises, helpful tools and trackers and more. The class takes 2 - 3 hours to complete.

This interactive online fatherhood class provides important information to expectant and new dads. The evidence-based and video-rich course includes videos, quizzes, interactive exercises and extended activities. The class takes 3 hours to complete.
