When illness or injury requires critical care, our team of specialists can provide specialized care for pediatric patients, from infants to age 21. These patients require careful monitoring and specific medicines and treatments only a dedicated children’s hospital care provide.

The Pediatric Intensive/Transitional Care Unit (PICU/PTCU) provides constant intensive and transitional care, monitoring and observation to critically ill children with medical/surgical problems. A team of healthcare personnel provides services with a focus on the management of critically ill children. The PICU/PTCU consists of nine private patient rooms and is located on the 4th floor of Women and Children’s Hospital. Dedicated Pediatric RNs and Pediatric Intensivists work together with multiple disciplines such as Residents, Respiratory, Pharmacy, Nutrition Services, Physical Therapy and Child Life to provide patient/family centered care.
